Scrap value is the allowed discount for returning the material item as scrap. Normally a unit has either salvage value or scrap value but not both. Scrap value is a credit that can be applied to the total design cost whenever an assigned compatible unit is intended for removal. Scrap value is therefore used in cost calculations only if the unit has a life-cycle status of Proposed Remove. By default, Bentley OpenUtilities Designer ignores the unit's scrap value. The Scrap option is enabled by selecting the Scrap check box on the Compatible Unit Assignment Properties dialog box (see Including Scrap and Salvage Values in Cost Calculations).
